Measuring
for Horizontal Blinds

(Measure the EXACT AREA to be covered to the nearest
1/8 of an inch.)
Inside
Mount
Measure width of opening at top, middle, and bottom.
Use the smallest measurement when ordering. Factory
will deduct 1/2" from blind to provide operating clearance.
Measure height of window opening of left, center, and
right, using the longest measurement.
Inside Mount blinds are installed inside the window
casing. Minimum depth requirements vary by product and
headrail type from 2 1/2" - 4". You may need
to order a shallow mount valance if your window will
not accommodate the mounting hardware for flush inside
mount. Call or e-mail us for
information on specific products.
If the top measurement is wider than the smallest width of your window, please give us this size in special instructions on the order form. We will need to adjust the valance size sent.
Shallow Mount
Shallow mount blinds are installed inside the window casing
where minimum depth requirement have accommodated for
the brackets but, part of the headrail protrudes from
the casing. In these cases the blinds are ordered as an
inside mount but the valances are ordered as outside mount
with returns of 1 1/2". Minimum depth required to mount the brackets is 7/8". The installer will need to
adjust the valance returns on the job site. Please note
this when ordering your blinds in the "Special Instructions"
section on the order form. Call or e-mail us for specific
details.
Outside
Mount
Measure
the width and height of the area to be covered. It is
recommended that blinds overlap the window opening by
at least 1" on each side or the width of the window
sill. Add a minimum of 2" to height to allow for the
head rail if mounting above trip or molding. Call or e-mail us for
information on specific products.
NOTE:
Standard deduction on a valance is 1/8" from ordered
width of blind. If the width at the top of the window
is larger than the ordered width of blind, please note
on the order under instructions what size you want the
valances made. |
