Designer Tips and Trade Secrets |
| Have fun with your centerpiece, and its super easy too! Try our Wreathe Centerpiece Project, you can make it in minutes and it lasts through the holiday season. In our wreath, we used fresh materials but artificial items can be used as well, and glued in place to make a permanent centerpiece that you can use year after year |
 |
|
Materials Needed:
• Platter, tray, or Plastic
• Fall twig, or vine wreath
• 1 medium pumpkin
• Small pumpkins or gourds
• Mini-pumpkins
• Mini-corn
• Preserved or silk fall leaves.
 |
To begin
Set a cutting board or tray on the table (or simply put plastic down) to protect your table from any moisture in the materials.
Tip: Using a larger board should allow you to move the arrangement in order to change a tablecloth or clean.

Large Items First
Place a fall wreath flat on the table. It could be a plain vine or twig wreath, or a decorated fall wreath. Here we've used a square wreath decorated with small pine cones and twig bundles. Add one medium sized pumpkin and a few larger gourds inside the wreath.
|
Tip: Glue some felt to the back of the wreath if you'll be placing it directly on the table. Use a length of coiled vines or fall garland if you don't have a wreath.
Mini-Pumpkins and Gourds
Add several small pumpkins.
Tip: For deep wreaths you can fill the inside with crumpled brown paper or layers of bubble wrap.
 |
Mini-Pumpkins
Add a few mini-pumpkins and other pieces (here we've added artificial pears). Then embellish as you prefer with some mini-corn, pine cones, moss.
Finish with Leaves
Finally, set silk or preserved leaves between the items to finish off the arrangement.
Tip: The goal is to eliminate the "gaps" and bring together all of the elements.

Decorating for Fall! |
Add Autumn Style Indoors and Out With Our Tips
Decorating for fall is a simple thing! You really don't have to go out and invest in a lot of money in materials to put together a really lovely seasonal decoration for fall. Mother Nature has provided almost everything you need to make a fall wreath, fall centerpiece, outdoor decoration, or mantle arrangement.
To get off to a good start, we've put together some tips on fall decorating, then guide you to resources for ideas and inspiration for beautiful fall decorations that you can make for your home.
• Assemble a Decorating Kit
Gather together some simple tools and supplies that you'll need to make a fall decoration. Include scissors, a wire cutter, a tape measure, pliers, a hot glue gun, tacks and hammer, garden clippers, floral wire, pencils, felt protector circles, and raffia. Organize the items in a tool box that you can easily pick up when you're ready to work on a project. Most of these things will be great to have together for any holiday decorating, so it will really be helpful to have them in one place.
• Take a Walk in the Woods
Some of the most wonderful things you can use to decorate your home for fall are probably in your back yard and won't cost a penny. With a big basket or bucket in hand, collect broken tree branches, cat tails, shafts of wheat, pine cones, or seed pods. You can use just about any natural item in a fall decoration. Visit a local craft supply store or florist and buy several branches of preserved leaves in colors to compliment your home's decor. These leaves have been chemically treated to remain soft for years and won't crack and dry up. Now you have the right tools, let your fall style shine. |

The Material Makes the Difference |
Faux Wood blinds have always endowed a room with a unique sense of style. The tasteful yet functional lines of wood blinds complement practically any window and any window treatment. With advances in technology, wood blinds are now affordable for almost everyone.
The variety of options gives plenty of flexibility in both design and cost. Choose from all wood blinds, faux wood blinds, and composite blinds.
Most are available in standard and specialty shapes and sizes for hard-to-fit windows.
Wood Blinds – Made of 100% basswood, these wood blinds are finely grained allowing them to work well with either paint or stain. And because basswood is lightweight, even wood blinds with wider slats are easy to raise and lower.
Faux Wood Blinds – Get the look of wood blinds without the negative environmental impact. Faux wood blinds are created through a special process that virtually duplicates the look of real wood. With faux wood blinds, you get the designer style you want with less care and greater savings.
Composite Blinds – A combination of real wood and engineered materials makes composite blinds |
durable yet distinctive. Through a process that integrates wood and vinyl, you get the best of both worlds… long-lasting, carefree composite blinds that offer the same designer look as wood blinds.
Alternative Wood Blinds - The combination of real wood and manmade materials provide strength and durability, including resistance against chipping fading and warping, making them perfect for rooms with high heat or humidity.
Specialty Shapes – Have an unusual window? No need to worry. Most wood blinds, faux wood blinds, and composite blinds are available in specialty shapes and sizes. If you have questions pertaining to the specialty shape of your window, simply contact our design team for help.
Wood blinds come ready-to-hang direct from the factory with stained or painted finishes and with your choice of valence. Select the traditional colonial valance or add a touch of sophistication with a crown valence. From traditional to elegant, there's a wood blind to fit every window in your house. Now the difference in wood, faux wood, and composite is clear. So which one are you ordering? Give us a call today, order takers are standing by. |
